How does the calculator get from net to gross?
There is no direct reverse formula. We search for the lowest gross salary whose net pay after 2026 wage tax, solidarity surcharge, church tax and social insurance reaches the amount you entered.
Why is the net sometimes one cent above my target?
Wage tax and contributions are rounded to the cent. We show the lowest gross that safely reaches your target and the exact net that it gives.
Does it work for job offers in Austria or Switzerland?
No. It uses German wage tax and German social insurance for 2026 only. Austria has its own salary calculator on this site.
