Questions
Which 2026 rates does the Japan take-home pay calculator use?
Kyokai Kenpo's fiscal 2026 health insurance rate for your prefecture, care insurance 1.62% from age 40 to 64, the new child support levy 0.23%, pension 18.3% and employment insurance at 0.5% for the employee in general businesses. You pay half of each, except employment insurance.
Why can my payslip show more income tax than this?
The higher 2026 basic deduction is applied in the December year-end adjustment, so monthly withholding until November still uses the old tables. We show the final tax for the year under the new rules.
How is the Japanese resident tax estimated?
It assumes the same pay next year and applies the standard 10% income levy and the 5,000 yen per capita levy (forest tax included) to your 2026 income. Resident tax is paid the following year, and your city sets the exact amount.
What if my company has its own health insurance society?
Use the result as a guide: insurance societies set their own rates, so your take-home pay will differ a little. Life insurance, iDeCo and other deductions, and tax-free commuting allowances, are not included.
