Questions
Why did my transparent PNG get a white background as JPG?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas must be filled with a color. White is the default; you can choose black, gray or any color code. PNG and WebP keep the transparency.
Which format should I choose?
JPG opens everywhere and suits photos. PNG keeps every pixel and transparency but makes bigger files. WebP is usually smaller than both and works in current browsers and apps.
Why is the converted file sometimes larger?
Turning a small JPG into a PNG, or a compressed file into a higher quality setting, adds data. The list shows the change for every file so you can keep the original when it grows.
Are my images uploaded to convert them?
No. Everything is converted on this page and the files stay on your device. Converted files do not carry location data.
