How to use it

  1. Choose what you want: the sale price, the percent off, or the price before the sale.
  2. Type the price and the discount, or tap a common percentage. Add a second discount if one is stacked on top.
  3. Read what you pay, what you save and the total percent off.

Questions

Is 30% off plus an extra 20% off the same as 50% off?

No. The extra 20% is taken from the already reduced price. $100 minus 30% is $70, and $70 minus 20% is $56, so the total discount is 44%, not 50%.

How do I find the percent off from the old and new price?

Take the amount saved and divide it by the original price, then multiply by 100. A $80 item on sale for $60 is $20 off, which is 25%.

How do I work out the price before a discount?

Divide the sale price by 1 minus the discount. A $60 sale price after 25% off was $60 / 0.75 = $80 before the sale.
