Questions
Is FGTS taken out of my salary?
No. The employer deposits 8% of your pay every month into an account in your name at Caixa, on top of your salary (Lei 8.036/1990, art. 15). For apprentices the deposit is 2%.
How much does FGTS earn?
The law guarantees 3% a year plus the TR update, about 0.25% interest a month. TR and the fund's profit sharing vary and are left out by default; you can change the yearly rate in the form.
Does this show my real balance?
No. It is an estimate from the amounts you enter. The official balance is in the FGTS app or on the Caixa website.
When is the 40% FGTS fine paid?
When you are dismissed without cause, the employer pays 40% of the deposits made during the job; in an agreement under CLT art. 484-A the fine is 20%. Resigning or a just cause dismissal has no fine.
