Questions
Can anyone recover the text under a redaction box?
No. Every page you redact is saved as a flat picture, so the covered text no longer exists in the file. It cannot be selected, copied or searched.
What does automatic detection find?
Card numbers, IBANs and ID numbers on by default, and optionally emails and phone numbers. It can miss things, so look at every page before you share the file.
Why can I no longer select text on redacted pages?
Redacted pages are saved as pictures so nothing hidden can be recovered. Pages without a box keep their text exactly as it was.
Is my PDF uploaded while I redact it?
No. The boxes are drawn and the pages are rebuilt on this page, so the PDF and what it contains never leave your device.
