How strong is the protection?
The copy uses standard PDF password encryption, which PDF apps unlock with the password. A short or common password is easy to guess, so choose a long one.
What happens if I forget the password?
Nobody can open the file then, and this tool cannot recover it. Keep the original PDF and store the password somewhere safe.
Do the print and copy limits really stop people?
PDF apps normally respect them, but they are a request, not a lock: some programs ignore them. Only the opening password truly keeps people out.
Does protecting a PDF upload it?
No. The password is added on this page, so the file and the password never leave your device.
