Questions
How is a GPA calculated?
Multiply each course's grade points by its credits to get quality points, add them up and divide by the total credits. An A (4.0) in a 3-credit course and a B+ (3.3) in a 2-credit course give 18.6 ÷ 5 = 3.72, not the plain average 3.65.
Do pass/fail courses count toward GPA?
Usually not: a pass/fail course has no grade points, so it is left out of both the points and the credits. An F, on the other hand, counts as 0 points with its full credits and pulls the average down.
How can I raise my GPA to a target?
Enter next term's credits and the GPA you want. The calculator solves (current points + new credits × x) ÷ (all credits) = target for x, the average you need. If x is above 4.0 the target cannot be reached that term.
