How to use it
- Slide the board in any direction with the arrow keys, WASD or a swipe.
- When two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one with double the value.
- Keep the biggest tile in a corner and use Undo if you slip.
Questions
Why does a new tile appear after every move?
Each move that shifts or merges something adds a 2, or a 4 about one time in ten. A move that changes nothing adds no tile.
How is the score counted?
Every merge adds the value of the tile it creates, so merging two 64s adds 128. Three equal tiles in a row merge as one pair per move.
What happens if I reach 2048?
You get a message and can keep playing for a bigger tile. The game only ends when the board is full and no neighbours match.
Will 2048 remember my game?
Yes. The board in progress and your best score are stored in this browser on this device, so a reload picks up where you left off. Nothing is uploaded.
