Questions
How are words counted?
A word is a run of letters or numbers. Words joined by a hyphen or an apostrophe, such as well-known or don't, count as one word.
Do emoji count as one character?
Yes. Characters are counted the way you see them, so an emoji or an accented letter counts once.
Why show bytes?
Some forms and databases limit text by bytes instead of characters. Line breaks are counted as two bytes, the way web forms send them.
