Questions

How accurate are the times?

Within about a minute for most places. They use the NOAA solar calculator method, with the sun counted as risen or set at 0.833 degrees below the horizon to allow for refraction.

What are civil dawn and dusk?

The moments the sun is 6 degrees below the horizon, before sunrise and after sunset. There is enough light then to see outdoors without lamps.

Why is there no sunrise or sunset in some places?

Near the poles the sun can stay above the horizon all day in summer, or below it all day in winter. The tool tells you which.
